Remember, the first lady will now wear fushia...with lime and plum. Be ready for tacky to be the new black. When it comes to fashion greats like Versace, tacky is re-defined. I was going through my pics last nite, uploading to Flickr--and I ran across this. I was doing a helicopter tour of South Beach and I took the photo from the ocean; so it's across from the ocean, on world-famous Ocean Drive. Ocean Drive properties rarely come to market and the celeb cache that will be forever attached to this property added to the value. When I moved here in 1992 the property was known as the "Amsterdam Palace" and was, basically, a flop-house. Imagine going from a flop-house in '92 to being one of the most prestigious properties on one of the most famous streets in the world. Who would have thunk? Here's a photo that kinda shows the sh*tty condition the property was in when I moved here. The interior is not grand. In it's former life the property was a series of small rooms overlooking a central courtyard. Now, it's all tackied up with gold-leaf cr*p. Was that Versace style cool then or was it always tacky? I would think prices that high would be on the water or at least have water views. Of course I particularly like the loggias on the addition :)
