Miami Beach Luxury Real Estate: Shaq Re-lists Star Island Home for $25M
Today, Shaq re-listed his Star Island, Miami Beach estate for $25M. On November 4th, the Daily Business Review reported that the home was under contract for around $19M.
The 7-foot-1, 325-pound center, who now plays for the Phoenix Suns, is selling his Star Island mansion for about $19 million, a huge difference from the $29 million he was seeking, according to two sources familiar with the deal.
O’Neal, a 14-time NBA All-Star, purchased the 19,440-square-foot home at 26 Star Island Drive for $18.8 million in 2004, according to Miami-Dade County property records. He also paid $1 million for the furniture.
O’Neal hasn’t had great luck with his Miami real estate. The property has been on and off the market since July of 2005. The home, located at 26 E. Star Island Drive, has been listed for as much as $35M. In November 2007, A-Rod backed out of the deal on the home because his then wife, Cynthia, wanted to remain close to her parents, who live in Coconut Grove.
In hindsight, I believe Madonna would find the house “suitable.” Other celebrities who live or have lived on Star Island include: Rosie O’Donnell, Diddy, Gloria Estefan, and Tommy Mottola.
