Rumor has it that a former executive and co-owner of a now-defunct high-end brokerage, which merged with Coldwell Banker in 2002, is planning to start his own firm now that his non-compete clause is coming to an end.

Wish him well. I have seen owners come back at the end of the non-compete clause and do very well. If they were able to create something that was purchased before…they can do it again.
If they were in business a very long time before they were purchased, they would still have contacts and reputation to build on. If they only existed during the good times…then maybe not good timing to come back at this point.

ARDELL,
I heard this gentleman speak when I was just getting into real estate and he is incredible.
Very charismatic.

Kevin, so is this a good or a bad thing?
If so, who is it good for and who is bad for?

I don’t know. I only wish the best. Not the best time to open a real estate brokerage—or maybe it is a brilliant time…..

Great time indeed! Just launched my own brokerage in Miami (I call it my new experiment) and I see blue skies ahead! Look forward to doing some deals with you in the future Kevin.
